Feds go hog wild promoting swine-flu shots

By Chelsea Schilling

As part of a massive public relations and research campaign, the CDC has been hosting as many as 10 swine flu forums in nine U.S. cities before Labor Day – and it is shelling out as much as $50,000 for a program that pays citizens $50 when they register early and attend the events.

Obamacare won't cover illegal immigrants?

Among the many claims being made durng the August recess by Democrats from President Obama, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-NV, and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-CA, to the lowliest back-bencher is that Obamacare absolutely, positively, cannot possibly ever in a million, zillion years provide coverage to illegal immigrants.

Olbermann: Fox News Watchers Are Paranoids and Racists

By Noel Sheppard

KEITH OLBERMANN: I hate to intrude with the facts but ours is the highest rated cable news program viewers 35 and younger and the highest rated cable news program for all viewers not on Fixed News. And since Fixed News has since now migrated completely over to serving propaganda to tin foil hatters, conspiracy theorists, paranoids and racists it is not a news organization making this show the highest rated cable news program, period.

‘Redistributive Change’

By Victor Davis Hanson

The first seven months of the Obama administration seemingly make no sense.

Why squander public approval by running up astronomical deficits in a time of pre-existing staggering national debt?

Why polarize opponents after promising bipartisan transcendence?

Why create vast new programs when the efficacy of big government is already seen as dubious? But that is exactly the wrong way to look at these first seven months of Obamist policy-making.

Ted Kennedy’s legacy not as heroic as some might think

By Howie Carr

While offering condolences to the Kennedy family at this sad moment, it is important to note that his life was not as simple, nor heroic, as is now being portrayed. On the cable channels yesterday, his fellow Senate graybeards, of both parties, were lamenting the passing of what was invariably described as Ted Kennedy’s “collegial” Senate - where voices were seldom raised, and partisan bickering ended when the gavel came down to end the session.

Iceland shows the dangers ahead for us all

By Robert Wade

In the build-up to the global crisis of 2008, tiny Iceland was a canary in the mine, a leading indicator of wider vulnerabilities. Now, amid growing optimism about global recovery, Iceland may again be a leading indicator of trouble ahead.
In the space of a few days last October Iceland’s whole banking system collapsed and was taken into public ownership, including the three banks which went from nowhere in 2002 to rank among the world’s 300 biggest by 2007. These three now make it into a less glorious league – Moody’s list of the 11 biggest financial bankruptcies in history. The country’s average income fell from 160 per cent of the US’s in 2007 to 80 per cent this year.

Pressure Builds for Fast Kennedy Succession

Gov. Patrick and other statehouse leaders said Wednesday that it would be a shame to have to wait up to five months for voters to choose a replacement -- which would leave the state with only one vote in the Senate as the country debates critical health care reform.
Kennedy had written a letter to the governor and lawmakers before his death requesting that they overturn a 2004 law that requires a special election in the event of a Senate seat vacancy.

Blowing Smoke at Terrorists

Abd al Rahim al-Nashiri, according to the 9-11 commission report, was the mastermind of the Oct. 12, 2000, attack on the U.S.S. Cole that killed 17 U.S. sailors. Nashiri was also the target of an "unauthorized" CIA interrogation technique (that had not been legally vetted by the Justice Department) that is described in a May 7, 2004, CIA inspector general's report that was partially declassified by the Obama administration this week.

CIA officers blew smoke in Nashiri's face, according to the report, and they used cigars.

Real US unemployment rate at 16 pct

The real US unemployment rate is 16 percent if persons who have dropped out of the labor pool and those working less than they would like are counted, a Federal Reserve official said Wednesday.
"If one considers the people who would like a job but have stopped looking -- so-called discouraged workers -- and those who are working fewer hours than they want, the unemployment rate would move from the official 9.4 percent to 16 percent, said Atlanta Fed chief Dennis Lockhart.

'Win One for Teddy,'

BY TEDDY DAVIS

"You've heard of 'win one for the Gipper'? There is going to be an atmosphere of 'win one for Teddy,'" Ralph G. Neas, the CEO of the liberal National Coalition on Health Care, told ABC News.
Democrats are hoping that Kennedy's influence in death may be even stronger than it was when he was alive....

Gun Control

video

The High Cost of Liberalism

The Treasury reports that our country's federal debt has doubled in nine years, rising steadily, year by year, to $10.72 trillion from $5.67 trillion in 2000. Our deficit for the current year fiscal year, which ends Sept. 30, is expected to total $1.8 trillion, four times last year's figure, leaving us with a federal debt of $38,500 for every U.S. resident. Our economy is doing poorly; it will shrink about 2.6% this year. Unemployment in July reached 9.4% and will likely further increase, and tax revenues are down $353 billion over the first 10 months of this fiscal year.

HPV Vaccine - What Parents Need to Know

by Janice Shaw Crouse

Even with the new information, numerous questions remain about the safety as well as the efficacy of the drug. Further, there are questions about the marketing of the drug. In fact, cervical cancer is relatively uncommon in the United States. The American Cancer Society reports under 4,000 deaths per year compared to the 250,000 deaths in other areas of the world, primarily in poor countries.

Kosovo and Ongoing De-Christianization

By Lee Jay Walker

The ongoing de-Christianization of Kosovo continues and unlike the past frenzy of the anti-Serbian mass media in the West, we mainly have a deadly silence about the reality of Kosovo and the continuing Albanianization of this land. However, how is it “just” and “moral” to persecute minorities and to alienate them from mainstream society; and then to illegally recognize this land without the full consensus of the international community?

ACORN in Retreat

While ACORN retreats across the nation, an upcoming voter registration fraud trial may reveal embarrassing information that hinders the ability of the embattled radical activist group to function.
The testimony will come as soon as next month from former ACORN Las Vegas field director Christopher Edwards. Charged with election fraud by Nevada's Democratic attorney general, he cut a deal last week with prosecutors and has pleaded guilty to two counts of conspiracy to commit the crime of compensation for registration of voters.

UBS Whistleblower Gets Rewarded With Prison Time:

Commentary by Ann Woolner

Aug. 26 (Bloomberg) -- If he had kept his mouth shut and his head low, Bradley Birkenfeld would be a free man today. He didn’t, so now the former UBS AG banker wears an electronic bracelet on his ankle and, beginning in January, will spend three years and four months in a federal penitentiary.
He’s headed for prison even though he blew the whistle on a multibillion-dollar international tax fraud conspiracy. Birkenfeld’s information let the U.S. pierce Swiss bank secrecy laws as never before possible.

Kennedy's Death Triggers Start of Race to Succeed Him

FOXNews.com

With Sen. Edward Kennedy's death making world headlines Wednesday, the race to succeed him begins in earnest -- on Thursday -- and promises to be crowded and fiercely fought.
Unlike most states where governors appoint a successor, Massachusetts law requires a special election within 145-160 days after a Senate seat becomes vacant, which means one must be held by January. The law bans the governor from making an interim appointment.

FCC 'Diversity' Chief Calls for ‘Confrontational Movement’ to Give Public Broadcasting Dominant Role in Communications

By Matt Cover

(CNSNews.com) – Mark Lloyd, chief diversity officer of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), called for a “confrontational movement” to combat what he claimed was control of the media by international corporations and to re-establish the regulatory power of government through robust public broadcasting and a more powerful FCC.

'Majority Not Buying Obama Health Plan Myths'

By Tom Blumer

Yes, the word "myths" is in quotes, but the reader is left to assume that a credible outfit must be asserting what those "myths" are. But it's actually that less than credible outfit known as "the Obama White House," which claims that those who don't swallow their assertions are subscribing to "myths." The reality is that President Barack Obama and his apparatchiks continue to peddle a set of long-disproved assertions about the kind of health care plan he and the Democratic Congress intend to make law.

Media’s Pro-Choice Darling Called Humans ‘Ecotumors'

To liberal media outlets, Warren Hern, one of the few late-term abortion providers in the country, has been worthy of praise as a doctor who boldly stands up for his beliefs in the face of intimidation - a lonely humanitarian braving violent death for the sake of his patients.

Foreign GPs who commute to Britain:

The huge extent to which the NHS needs foreign doctors to treat patients out of hours is revealed today.
A third of primary care trusts are flying in GPs from as far away as Lithuania, Poland, Germany, Hungary, Italy and Switzerland because of a shortage of doctors in Britain willing to work in the evenings and at weekends.

By Tsegaye Tadesse

ADDIS ABABA, Aug 24 (Reuters) - African leaders will ask rich nations for $67 billion per year to mitigate the impact of global warming on the world's poorest continent, according to a draft resolution seen by Reuters on Monday.

O'S INSURANCE SCAM

Adam Brodsky

PRESIDENT Obama and con gressional Democrats are now fixing their gun sights on health insurers, but their broader, underlying goals remain unchanged: socializing costs and extending Washington's control of the health-care sector.

Ronald Reagan Speaks Out Against Socialized Medicine

What the Radical Left Doesn't Want You to Know About the 60's

Ah, the ‘60s, the hippie-drenched era recently dredged up as part of the Woodstock 40th anniversary news coverage. What a shame that so much of what the public knows of the turbulent decade is either an exaggeration or outright falsehood.

Must-Read Evaluation of ObamaCare

THE OBAMA HEALTH CARE PLAN – IN ONE WORD
By David H. Janda M.D.
As a physician who has authored books on Preventative Health Care and Health Care Cost Containment, I was recently given the opportunity to be the keynote speaker at a Congressional Dinner at The Capitol Building in Washington D.C… The presentation, entitled Health Care Reform; The Power & Profit of Prevention was well received. In preparation for the presentation, I read the latest version of “reform” as authored by The Obama Administration and supported by Speaker Pelosi and Senator Reid. It is important to realize that The Obama Health Care Plan is comprised of two parts…..that’s right, not one but two parts.

Obama Leads Top GOP Contenders for 2012

WASHINGTON, Aug. 25 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- A new nationwide poll of American voters shows President Obama leading major 2012 Republican presidential contenders. The survey, conducted by Clarus Research Group, a nonpartisan research firm based in Washington, D.C., shows Obama leading GOP challengers by margins ranging from 9 to 19 points.
In the poll, Obama led:
Mitt Romney, former governor of Massachusetts, by nine points: 47 percent to 38 percent, with 15 percent undecided.
Mike Huckabee, former governor of Arkansas, by 10 points: 48 percent to 38 percent, with 15 percent undecided.
Newt Gingrich, former speaker of the House, by 18 points: 52 percent to 34 percent, with 15 percent undecided.
Sarah Palin, former governor of Alaska, by 19 points: 53 percent to 34 percent, with 13 percent undecided.

Dear White Liberal America

Thank you very, very much. You see us poor helpless inferior blacks (oh forgive me, I must be politically correct, "African Americans"), and you want to help us using your superior intellect. After all, we could not possibly succeed in this racist, homophobic and greedy country without your assistance.

Warning--economic meltdown

Anthony G. Martin

On the heels of the Obama administration's revised deficit numbers which show a projected 9-trillion-dollar deficit rather than 7 trillion as originally predicted, the Feds today rolled out some more 'revised' figures that should send the warning flags waving frantically.
The White House Budget Office released figures this morning showing that if the government continues on its present course, the nation's deficits could reach three-quarters the size of the entire U.S. economy.
As if that were not enough, White House economic adviser Christina Romer admitted that the economy will shrink by 2.8% this year rather than the 1.2% rate of contraction predicted by Obama earlier this year.

Federal Pay Continues Rapid Ascent

Posted by Chris Edwards

The George W. Bush years were very lucrative for federal workers. In 2000, the average compensation (wages and benefits) of federal workers was 66 percent higher than the average compensation in the U.S. private sector. The new data show that average federal compensation is now more than double the average in the private sector.

THE REAL REASON AMERICANS ARE ANGRY

Shifting the Right of Way to the Left

APIA, Samoa -- Sometime in the early morning hours of Sept. 7, residents of this small Pacific island nation will stop their cars, take a deep breath, and do something most people would think is suicidal: Start driving on the other side of the road.

Dirty secret No. 3 in Obamacare

Chuck Norris

Obamacare, dirty secret No. 3 is the sin of omission. It's what the health care bill doesn't say that will bite you in the end.
If you were writing 1,000+ pages on a subject, don't you think you'd have enough space to cover the essentials? But what if some of the issues were political hotbeds? And, if you were trying to sell the package, are there issues you'd intentionally leave out? If you were a Washington bureaucrat, I know you would!

Obama's Plan to Desecrate 9/11

The Obama White House is behind a cynical, coldly calculated political effort to erase the meaning of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks from the American psyche and convert Sept. 11 into a day of leftist celebration and statist idolatry.

Swine Flu Campaign Waits on Vaccine

By Rob Stein

The campaign aims to vaccinate at least half the country's population within months. Although more people have been inoculated against diseases such as smallpox and polio over a period of years, the United States has never tried to immunize so many so quickly.

PATERSON WHINES: 'RACISM!'

By BRENDAN SCOTT

ALBANY -- Gov. Paterson has played the race card.
The state's first black governor yesterday blamed his political woes -- and those of President Obama -- on a white-dominated media that he accused of taking part in an "orchestrated" attack campaign.

Gordon Brown in new storm over freed Lockerbie bomber

Gordon Brown faced fresh questions tonight after it emerged that he discussed with Colonel Gaddafi detailed conditions for the Lockerbie bomber's return nearly six weeks ago, while senior Labour figures warned of an economic backlash from angry Americans "costing our country dear".

Health Care Reform Bills Would Not Verify Citizenship

By Penny Starr

(CNSNews.com) – The health care reform bills Congress is considering would not require people who sign up for government health care programs to verify their eligibility. That opens the door for millions of illegal aliens and other non-citizens to receive medical services paid for by taxpayers,

Devaluing Doctors -- and Care

By Marshall Ackerman

Physicians have been cast as the villains in the drama that our national health-care debate has become. We stand accused of raising charges to private insurers to compensate for low Medicare and Medicaid reimbursements as well as care of the uninsured or illegal immigrants; doing more to get paid more; seeing patients more often than necessary to increase revenue; and providing inefficient and ineffective care to patients in the hospital. Our motives are impugned. The care we render is being disparaged and our professionalism disregarded ...

GOP Should Shut Down Senate

By Pete Winn

(CNSNews.com) – Conservative leader Gary Bauer warned Wednesday that Democratic leaders in Congress will try to ram through their unpopular health-care reform plan later this fall, employing a little-used tactic first conceived as a way to maneuver around the budget deficit battles of the 1980s.

THE 'STUPID' STRATEGY

Rich Lowry

THE Obama team is saddled with a foundering health- care strategy. But it has a fallback plan -- relying on the sheer dimwitted gullibility of the American public.

How stupid do they think we are?
Stupid enough to think that a new $1 trillion health-care entitlement is just the thing to restore the country to fiscal health.

A dread disease, no known cure

Somewhere betwixt swine and swindle, we've got a flu crisis. Well, maybe not a real crisis, or even a semi-convincing phony crisis, but the government is working on it. What we have, actually, is a crisis of hysteria promoted in certain government precincts.

Keep Your Insurance? Not Everyone.

President Obama has repeatedly said that under the health care overhaul efforts in Congress, "if you like your health care plan, you keep your health care plan." But he can’t make that promise to everyone.
In fact, under the House bill, some employers might have to modify plans after a five-year grace period if they don’t meet minimum benefits standards.
Furthermore, some firms are likely to buy different coverage for their workers than they have now, or simply drop coverage and pay a penalty instead, leaving workers to buy their own private coverage or go on a new federal insurance plan.

Post-Partisan Promise Fizzles

WASHINGTON -- Barack Obama campaigned last year on a pledge to end the angry partisanship in Washington. He wasn't the first to promise a post-partisan presidency: Both George W. Bush and Bill Clinton offered a similar change, only to see the mutual hostility between Republicans and Democrats increase while they were in the White House.

Video: Dem wants to eliminate private health insurance altogether

by Ed Morrissey

Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-NY) returned to the ObamaCare battle on MS-NBC’s Morning Joe today, preaching the public-plan gospel just as he did yesterday on CNBC. However, this time, Joe Scarborough goaded Weiner into a little more honesty than he’s offered on the effort to “reform” health care. Declaring that “health care is not a commodity,” Weiner says his aim is to eliminate all private insurance — which is why he will not yield on the public-plan option:

ObamaCare Is All About Rationing

The White House Council of Economic Advisers issued a report in June explaining the Obama administration's goal of reducing projected health spending by 30% over the next two decades. That reduction would be achieved by eliminating "high cost, low-value treatments," by "implementing a set of performance measures that all providers would adopt," and by "directly targeting individual providers . . . (and other) high-end outliers."

‘Trojan Horse’ for a Single-Payer Health-Care System

By Christopher Neefus

(CNSNews.com) – A liberal Yale scholar, widely regarded as the originator of the “public option” idea of creating a government run insurance provider to compete with private-sector insurance companies, told CNSNews.com that he does not see the public option as a "Trojan Horse" that could lead the United States to single-payer, government-run health insurance.

“I do not see my ‘Health Care for America’ proposal as a route to single payer,” Jacob S. Hacker told CNSNews.com in an email.

O'S 'PAY CZAR'

Michelle Malkin

'PAY Czar' Kenneth Feinberg's official government title is "special master for compensation." You'll be happy to know that he's really getting into the confiscatory spirit of his role. Asked by Reuters if his powers include reaching back and revoking bonuses awarded to financial-industry executives before his office was created this year, Feinberg asserted broad and binding authorities -- including the ability to "claw back" money already paid out.

Glenn Beck Boycott: Censorship or Good Citizenship?

Carl M. Cannon

So, the number of corporate sponsors that have pulled their advertising dollars from The Glenn Beck Program grew to 20 on Tuesday. Walmart, Best Buy and Travelocity joined the list of companies that, depending on your point of view, should be classified as either responsible corporate citizens or easily bullied cowards.

The Campus War Against Israel and the Jews

The Washington D.C.-based As-Sabiqun movement, a front line organization in the campus war against Israel and the Jews, was founded in the early 1990s by Imam Abdul Alim Musa. Musa speaks frequently at colleges and universities across the country -- often at the invitation of various chapters of the Muslim Students Association. As-Sabiqun (“The Vanguard” in Arabic) is a Sunni-oriented group seeking to establish Islam “as a complete way of life in America”

I am finally scared of a White House administration

By Nat Hentoff

I was not intimidated during J. Edgar Hoover's FBI hunt for reporters like me who criticized him. I railed against the Bush-Cheney war on the Bill of Rights without blinking. But now I am finally scared of a White House administration. President Obama's desired health care reform intends that a federal board (similar to the British model) — as in the Center for Health Outcomes Research and Evaluation in a current Democratic bill — decides whether your quality of life, regardless of your political party, merits government-controlled funds to keep you alive. Watch for that life-decider in the final bill. It's already in the stimulus bill signed into law.
